 Joseph Koerner

Considers the deeply enigmatic art of Hieronymus Bosch in its entire range, and in relation to earlier and later European painting. Concerned to imagine, vilify, and (sometimes) identify with "the enemy," whoever or whatever that foe may be, Bosch's creations take us to the shadowy core of Renaissance art. The course also explores the strategies, techniques, and limits of art historical analysis.
