Join Professors **Thomas Cummins** and **Jose Falconi** in conversation with **Irene Small** as they discuss her new book, T*he Organic Line: Toward a Topology of Modernism*. Inspired by Brazilian artist Lygia Clark’s concept of the “organic line”—a fissure of space between material elements that binds discrepant entities together—Small challenges traditional notions of influence and origin, revealing a dynamic web of fragile, unexpected relationships. Through works ranging from Malevich’s Black Square to John Cage’s 4’33” and contemporary artists like Adam Pendleton, she reimagines modern and contemporary art as a fluid, interactive field rather than a fixed construct
