Presented in conjunction with the exhibition [Drawing: The Invention of a Modern Medium](http://www.harvardartmuseums.org/visit/exhibitions/5114/drawing-the-invention-of-a-modern-medium) (January 21–May 7, 2017), this lecture will consider the key aspects of the process of drawing’s emergence into modernity and will explore the output of the most important artists, from Fragonard to Seurat, who contributed to that process. Ewa Lajer-Burcharth, the William Dorr Boardman Professor of Fine Arts at Harvard University, will describe the unorthodox format of the exhibition and reflect on the broader question of how objects may be used to reimagine art history.

The lecture will take place in Menschel Hall, Lower Level. Please enter the museums via the entrance on Broadway.

Following the lecture, the galleries featuring the exhibition will remain open until 8pm.

 Free admission

Complimentary parking available in the Broadway Garage, 7 Felton Street, Cambridge.

Support for the lecture is provided by the Robert and Margaret Rothschild Lecture Fund at the Harvard Art Museums.
