**Gender and Buddhist Art in Asia: Embodiment, Patronage, and the Sacred**

June 2-3, Harvard University, via zoom. [Register here](https://harvard.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_EvuHb8c0QHG92S5w_ERwXA)

We are pleased to announce the inaugural conference of the newly formed *Collective on Gender, Religion, and the Arts of Asia*. This open collective proposes to recenter discussions of gender, the body, and identity as primary vectors in the study of Asian religions and visual and material cultures. The first gathering, which focuses on Buddhism, will provide a platform to explore new methodological approaches, directions in pedagogy, and recent discoveries in the study of Asian art history, material culture studies, and related fields. Through panels dedicated to the themes of Embodiment, Patronage, and the Sacred Feminine, this event is designed as the first of several discussions and convenings to build on previous scholarship and redress entrenched biases and blindspots in the historiographies of Asian religion, society, and art.
