"From the eye of the painter, the director, to that of the spectator, women's bodies have often been constructed as an object of pleasure for the male gaze. This round table aims to explore the concept of "male gaze"coined by critic Laura Mulvey, who dissects the sexualization of female bodies in cinema. She also intends to come back to the diversion of this gaze by female artists, and the various ways of constructing the experience of pleasure that they have been able to construct, outside of the sexualization of female bodies."

Speakers: Ariane Temkine (INHA), Catherine Gonnard (INA), Ewa Lajer-Burcharth (Harvard University), Kate Ince (University of Birmingham), Teresa Castro (Sorbonne Nouvelle University)
