This January, Dumbarton Oaks, Harvard's art museum and research institution in Washington D.C, will be hosting a weeklong Wintersession course focusing on cultural philanthropy. Participating students will be invited to come to D.C. and will receive room and board provided by Dumbarton Oaks. Students will enjoy visiting The Kreeger Museum, Glenstone, George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum, and will also engage in conversations with leaders in cultural philanthropy and cultural institutions during their stay. In addition to learning about the power of cultural philanthropy, students will also walk away with a better understanding of what a career in a cultural institution would entail.
The application for this course is now open. Interested students will need to write a short essay explaining their desire for enrolling in the course, obtain one letter of recommendation from a Harvard faculty member, and provide their résumé or CV. These materials will need to be submit to Dumbarton Oaks’ Embark application by December 1st, 2021. More information and the link to the Embark application can be found on Dumbarton Oaks’ Wintersession website.
