The Curatorial Department at The Noguchi Museum is seeking an intern for Winter 2022. Applicants should have a strong interest in the work of Isamu Noguchi and exceptional archival research skills. We are particularly interested in candidates with an interest in the intersections of Dance and Art History. This internship will involve in-depth research into Noguchi’s influential design work for dance, and particularly his collaborations with modern dance pioneer Martha Graham. Intern will be supervised and mentored by members of the curatorial department and will have the opportunity to gain valuable archival research and organizational experience that will support future academic or museum work. They will also develop a rich understanding of Noguchi’s work and collaborations, and will gain insight into the functions of an artist’s foundation and the unique responsibilities of preserving and expanding an artist’s legacy.
Internships generally require a commitment of 1–2 days per week for twelve weeks, but will be negotiated by mutual agreement. This is a paid position with an hourly rate of $20/hour, and is anticipated to be 8–16 hours a week for 12 weeks for an approximate total payment range of $1,920–$3,840. Work will be fully remote to the start, with the possibility in the future for onsite work depending on the comfort and availability of the intern, and current Museum safety guidelines.

The ideal candidate will be a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with an interest in curatorial and registration work. Candidates must possess excellent communication skills, strong writing skills, and word-processing skills on a PC platform. Additional experience with TMS and Photoshop is a plus.
