DESCRIPTION:<p><span><strong>Fairbank Center opportunities for undergraduate students: &nbsp;</strong></span></p><ol><li><a href="https://fairbank.fas.harvard.edu/undergraduate-student-grants/"><span><strong>Taiwan Travel Grants:</strong></span></a><span>&nbsp;</span></li></ol><p><span>We are opening a new Taiwan Travel Grants opportunity for undergraduate students seeking funding for research, creative projects, and independent internships in Taiwan. &nbsp;</span></p><ul><li><span><strong>Research projects</strong> <strong>in Taiwan</strong> may extend beyond Chinese or East Asian studies and may include creative projects. Project proposals should state how the project relates to a student’s&nbsp;course of study and/or career objectives. &nbsp;</span></li><li><span>Taiwan Travel Grants can support undergraduates who have independently secured&nbsp;<strong>unpaid summer internships in Taiwan.</strong> Students will&nbsp;provide confirmation of the internship placement in the grant application and will be responsible for arranging their own work permit/visa, travel, and housing. &nbsp;</span></li></ul><p><span><strong>For Summer projects, the deadline to apply for a Taiwan Travel Grant is March 25, 2026.&nbsp;</strong>The application will require a statement of purpose (or&nbsp;project proposal), an itinerary and itemized budget, a letter from the hosting institution/organization (if applicable), a resume, a Harvard transcript, and a letter of recommendation. Decisions will be sent to applicants in early April in keeping with the </span><a href="https://summerfunding.college.harvard.edu/summer-funding-timeline"><span>timeline for Round C Summer Funding opportunities</span></a><span>.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></p><ol start="2"><li><a href="https://fairbank.fas.harvard.edu/undergraduate-student-grants/"><span><strong>Taiwan Studies Grants</strong></span></a><span><strong>:</strong> &nbsp;</span></li></ol><p><span>The Fairbank Center continues to offer Taiwan Studies Grants to support undergraduate students planning to pursue study abroad, academic research or language training in Taiwan <strong>during the semester</strong>. The deadline to apply for a <strong>Fall Taiwan Studies Grant is&nbsp;May 5, 2026</strong>.&nbsp; Note: If seeking academic credit for study abroad this Fall, students must contact the </span><a href="https://oie.fas.harvard.edu/"><span>Office of International Education</span></a><span> ASAP to request approval of their study plan.&nbsp;</span></p><ol start="3"><li><a href="https://fairbank.fas.harvard.edu/undergraduate-student-grants/"><span><strong>Gap Semester/Year in Taiwan</strong></span></a><span>: &nbsp;&nbsp;</span></li></ol><p><span>Through our new </span><a href="https://fairbank.fas.harvard.edu/undergraduate-student-grants/"><span>Taiwan Travel Grants</span></a><span> opportunity, the Fairbank Center can help support a gap-year or gap-semester experience for currently enrolled undergraduates and graduating seniors wanting to pursue non-credit programs, language training, or independent&nbsp;internships at public-interest organizations in Taiwan.
