Yue Xie received her B.A. in History of Art and Fine Arts from Bryn Mawr College. In 2015 she studied Arabic language and Islamic art at the American University in Cairo. She received her M.A. in the Art History and Archaeology of the Islamic Middle East in 2017 from SOAS, University of London, where she began her research on medieval Uyghur mosques. Upon graduation, Xie worked in a heritage conservation firm in Urumqi in western China. Her present research interest lies in the urban and architectural transformations in the post-Timurid Samarkand and Bukhara in Central Asia, as well as the early Russian scholarship on Islamic monuments and cities in Russian Turkestan.
