2026 Blakemore Kingfisher Art History Language Fellowships

The Blakemore Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2026 Blakemore Kingfisher Art History Language Fellowships for nine to twelve months of intensive language study of Chinese or Korean in East Asia during the 2026/2027 academic year.
These grants are open to citizens and permanent residents of the United States and Canada, and to foreign nationals studying in colleges or universities in the United States or Canada, who have a well-demonstrated intent to study the pre-20th century history of Chinese or Korean art at the doctoral level. By the start of their grant, candidates must have received a bachelor's degree and have completed (at minimum) two year's formal study of the language in rigorous college-level language programs.
The grants will provide a stipend for living, travel and study expenses and full tuition for study at:
● International Chinese Language Program at National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan
● Inter-University Program for Chinese Language Studies at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China
● Seoul National University, Sogang University, or the Inter-University Center for Korean Language Studies at Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea
