Fall positions at CAMLab: Public Interface Team Educators

Harvard FAS CAMLab seeks current Harvard students to gain direct experience in the day-to-day operations of an experimental exhibition space and the UI/UX design process. All positions are paid and require 8–12 hours of work each week during the academic year. 

 

Educator, Public Interface Team

Reporting to CAMLab’s Assistant Curator, Educators will amplify impact among audiences who explore CAMLab’s digital platforms and our exhibition space. Educators will contribute to CAMLab projects’ online presentations by conducting website usability studies and in generating public information for digital publicity channels. Furthermore, they will act as the primary point of contact for visitors to CAMLab Cave, our physical hub. From trainings on exhibitions’ conceptual and historical research as well as their technological engineering, Educators facilitate exhibition visits by sharing essential information and engaging visitors dialogically. Educators will have the opportunity to serve in an advisory capacity to CAMLab by not only reporting their on-the-ground observations of CAMLab audiences’ experiences, but also offering ideas for public programs, digital engagement campaigns, and more. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Participate in training on topics relevant to CAMLab projects, ranging from Buddhist art to museum pedagogies and digitization practices. 

  • Under CAMLab core team’s direction, execute usability studies for CAMLab websites. 

  • Serve as exhibition audiences’ primary point of contact during their visit.

  • Provide visitors with a short exhibition overview, serve as a resource for questions, facilitate visitor flow through the exhibition space.

  • Contribute to CAMLab’s broader social media content calendar and public information efforts.

  • Based on trainings, provide simple troubleshooting support for exhibition equipment.

  • Make recommendations to CAMLab regarding how to refine the audiences’ experience and amplify engagement.

 

Skills that will be developed 

  • Public speaking

  • Distilling complex concepts for general audiences

  • Usability study development and execution

  • Collaborating on Figma

  • Audience engagement and feedback collection

  • Knowledge of curatorial and exhibition operation processes

  • Knowledge of the Art & Technology field

  • Knowledge of Buddhist Art, Art History, and the digital humanities

 

Compensation 

  • $16–$20 per hour
