About the Yun Family Research Fellowship

The Yun Family Research Fellowship for Revolutionary Thinking champions students who aspire not only to conduct original research, but also to develop the habits of mind that lead to transformative ideas. In particular, the Yun supports Harvard undergraduates who seek to address significant problems through bold, original, and intellectually ambitious research during the summer.

The fellowship is built on the belief that revolutionary ideas rarely emerge fully formed. They develop through curiosity, rigorous inquiry, a willingness to question assumptions, and the persistence to refine ideas through iterative research and feedback. 

The Yun Fellowship is designed to support that process. Through workshops, advising, and independent research, students develop and strengthen research projects that challenge conventional thinking, introduce new perspectives or methodologies, or open new ways of understanding important questions. Rather than simply funding innovative research, the fellowship encourages students to think deeply about why a problem matters, how existing approaches fall short, and what new directions their work might make possible.

Projects from all disciplines are welcome, and interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary approaches are especially encouraged.

Students receive $10,000 to complete their project during the summer.
