Michelle Young, Class of '04, publishes new book - "The Art Spy: The Untold Story of World War II Resistance Spy Rose Valland"

Michelle Young, HAA '04 will be publishing a nonfiction book about the female French Resistance member and art historian Rose Valland, entitled The Art Spy: The Untold Story of World War II Resistance Spy Rose Valland with HarperOne (an imprint of Harper Collins). The book examines Valland's role undercover in the Jeu de Paume museum during WWII, which was occupied by the Nazi art looting force, and her intrepid quest to track down looted artworks throughout Europe during and after WWII. Valland is credited with providing the information that stopped the last train of stolen art from leaving France just before the end of the war. Michelle is the founder of Untapped New York, a web magazine dedicated to the hidden history of New York City. She also holds a master degree in Urban Planning from Columbia University GSAPP, where she is an adjunct professor.
