Ayesha U. Shaikh is a doctoral candidate of Islamic architecture and urbanism in the Department of History of Art and Architecture at Harvard University. Her research focuses on Indian Ocean maritime connectivity in relation to visual and architectural material attributed to Gujarat, India during the early modern period. Prior to her studies at Harvard University, she has worked as a research fellow at the Pergamon Museum in Berlin and held a graduate internship at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Ayesha holds a Bachelor of Art History from the University of California, Berkeley (2017) and a Master of Science in Architecture Studies from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2020).
