Catarina's research focuses on architecture, exhibitions, modernity, and national identity in the twentieth century. She is particularly interested in the production of modern architecture in Brazil and its transnational exchanges within the Americas.

Catarina received an MS in history of art and design from Pratt Institute and a BA in architecture from Pontifícia Universidade Católica of Rio de Janeiro. Her curatorial and editorial experience includes work at The Architectural League of New York and the São Paulo International Architecture Biennial as well as internships at The Museum of Modern Art, Cooper Hewitt, and the Guggenheim.
