Associate Professor, History of Art & Fine Arts, University of Salamanca
José Gómez-Isla is Associate Professor in the Fine Arts Faculty (History of Art & Fine Arts Department) at the University of Salamanca (Spain). He is Director of the ITACA Research Group (Research in Art and Visual Culture).
He holds a Ph.D. in Fine Arts from the University Complutense of Madrid (UCM), and he publishes widely on Photography, Art, and Visual Culture.
Some of his books are: Fotografía de creación (Photography of Creation) (2005), Cuestión de Imagen. Aproximaciones a la Imagen Audiovisual desde la Comunicación, el Arte y la Ciencia (ed.) (2013) (A Matter of Image. Some approaches to the audiovisual image from the sphere of science, art, and communication), or Álbum de familia y prácticas artísticas (ed.), (Family Album and artistic practices) (in press).
He also has an extensive curatorial experience in national and international art projects.
His research lines are focused on photography, audiovisual image, Contemporary Art, digital technologies, and the social effects of the mass media contents.
At Harvard University, Gomez-Isla is working on a project on artistic image vs scientific image and on their share codes.
