Rebecca Selch

Rebecca studies intellectual, scientific, and aesthetic exchange in the early modern world. Her specialization in Safavid drawing and painting has led to projects on the optical sciences, notions of wonder, and depictions of human sexuality. Future study will hopefully examine representations of Blackness in the Islamicate world. She hopes, too, to continue her longstanding research interest in exchanges between the East and West Indies. She is indebted to her teachers at Wellesley College, where she received a BA in Art History and Sociology, as well as to Sussan Babaie at the Courtauld Institute of Art, where she received an MA.
