Serpil Bağcı
Professor Serpil Bağcı received her PhD from the Art History Department of Hacettepe University in 1989 and has taught there until 2023. She is now a part-time faculty member at the Department of History, Bilkent University. She has conducted research (or taught) at various institutions, including Naples L’Orientale, Oxford University, the University of Chicago, the University of London, Harvard University, and Università di Roma.
Serpil Bağcı’s main research interests are Ottoman and Persian arts of the book, with a focus on visual culture and painting in the Ottoman world. Her publications include Konya Mevlânâ Müzesi Resimli Elyazmaları (Illustrated Manuscripts in Konya Mevlana Museum, MAS Matbaacılık, İstanbul, 2003); Falnama: The Book of Omens (with Massumeh Farhad, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC., 2009) and Ottoman Painting (with Filiz Cağman, Zeren Tanındı and Gunsel Renda, 2nd ed., Rep. of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism, İstanbul, 2019)
