2024 SUNY New Paltz Undergraduate Art History Symposium - Call for Abstracts

Date:

Thursday, February 1, 2024 (All day)

"We are delighted to announce the dates of the sixth annual SUNY New Paltz Undergraduate Art History Symposium, which will take place over Zoom on April 11-14, 2024. We enjoyed our biggest event yet last year with 143 speakers from 106 collegiate institutions across the globe, and we invite you to explore the website, where you can access all of the session recordings.

We look forward to expanding even further this coming year, and we would greatly appreciate your help in sharing the attached flyer with your students. We have found that faculty encouragement is key in giving students the confidence to apply, and we are enormously grateful for all the wonderful work you do with your mentees that makes our event possible each year.

We welcome papers focused on any topic or scholarly approach within the field of art history and other closely related disciplines (e.g., film studies, archaeology, etc.). Students may present past or present work, whether based on a research paper, an independent study, or an honors thesis. Each talk will be ten minutes in length followed by a brief question and answer session.

All undergraduate students are eligible to apply, including those who might be recent alumni (post-May 2023) who have not yet enrolled in a graduate program.

Abstracts of 300 words or less may be sent to me at heuerk@newpaltz.edu until February 1, 2024. We ask that the submission also include the student’s name, major, academic year, institutional affiliation, and email. Students will be notified whether their paper has been accepted by the end of February."
