In honor of Yom HaShoah, Boston College professors and documentary filmmakers John and Susan Michalczyk will present and discuss clips from their series of Holocaust films: The Cross and the Star: Jews, Christians and the Holocaust (1997), Nazi Medicine: In the Shadow of the Reich (1997), Displaced: Miracle at St. Ottilien (2002), Creating Harmony: The Displaced Persons’ Orchestra at St. Ottilien (2007), and Nazi Law: Legally Blind (2016).

 

John Michalczyk, Ph.D. is Professor and Director of Film Studies at Boston College. His numerous books and documentary films deal with historical events such as World War II and the Holocaust, as well as themes of conflict resolution, moral compromises, and social justice. He has been teaching at Boston College since 1974. Susan Michalczyk, Ph.D. teaches literature at Boston College and has scripted and co-produced a number of films for Etoile Productions. Her areas of expertise include comparative literature, psychology and autobiographical literature, and film and literature.
