Here on Earth: Emmet Gowin on a Life in Photography

The American photographer Emmet Gowin once said, “There are things in your life that only you will see, stories that only you will hear. If you don’t tell them or write them down, if you don’t make the picture, these things will not be seen, these things will not be heard” In this talk, he will explore his critically acclaimed production that began as a student of Harry Callahan in the 1960s.In addition to his devotion to teaching, Gowin has pursued a range of subjects in his art, including aerial photography of agricultural fields and nuclear plants, close up studies of moths, and portraits of his family.
