Louis Copplestone

Louis is a doctoral candidate studying South Asian art and architecture with a focus on interactions between architecture, other forms of cultural production, and religious thought. He is writing a dissertation on the buildings built for Buddhists in eastern India and Bangladesh after the 9th century CE.

Louis received an MA from the Courtauld Institute of Art in 2015 and a BA from SOAS in 2014. Before coming to Harvard he was a Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation Fellow at the Tokyo National Museum. In 2022-2023 he will hold a History of Art and Visual Culture Fellowship at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
