Yingxue Wang completed her BA in Art History and Humanities at Yale University, and studied at Harvard for her MA in Regional Studies: East Asia. She specializes in early Japanese Buddhist art, and has been researching on the transmission of religious art and material culture in East Asia from 3rd to 7th centuries AD. Given her long-term interest in early Christian art, she is also interested in contributing to the ongoing conversation on the Global Medieval Ages and exploring broader issues such as long-distance exchange and global connectivity. Her work has focused on utilizing methodological developments in anthropology and material culture studies to develop new frameworks for examining the cross-cultural movement of artworks and artisans, as well as the role of various media and bodily senses in art production and reproduction.
